Megalosaurus

 Megalosaurus was the first dinosaur EVER DISCOVERED! In 1676! Back at that time {320 years ago} People thought the skelotons of this amazing dinosaur were the skelotons of some, prehistoric giant human being! Crazy right? People from China {no offense if your Chinese} thought they were dragon skelotons it wasn't till over 100 years later people found out that this was no giant human being, so they called it, Megalosaurus, and pt in the family Dinosauria! It lived 181 million to 169 million years ago, in the Jurassic Period. It was a carnivorous dinosaur, mainly hunting on dinosaurs like Stegosaurus, or stegosaurs. It was discovered in southern England. {By the way, Chinese people found these skelotons when they traveled to England}.

Sauroposeidon

 The Sauroposeidon was discovered on the border of Texas and Oklahoma. Did you know, that Sauroposeidon is the largest known dinosaur!? { At least as far as I know}. It lived in the Cretaceous Period, 110 million years ago.

Tarbosaurus

 The Tarbosaurus was discovered 1946, in the Gobi  Desert. Tarbosaurus was originally thought to be a Tyrannosaurus Rex, so they called it, Tyrannosaurus Bataar in 1955. But soon they realized it was a new dinosaur, and corrected it to Tarbosaurus Bataar.

Giganotosaurus

 The Giganotosaurus was discovered in Argentina, 1993. It was a carnivorous Therapod that lived in the Cretaceous Period 98 million to 97 million years ago. Giganotosaurus Carolinii was discovered by Rube'n D. Carolini, in 1995.

Comsognathus

 The Comsognathus has only two specimens found! One from France, and one from Germany. It is thought to be the smallest dinosaur ever, but give that a big fat X because Comsognathus was about the size of a chicken, while Lagosuchus was the size of your HAND! That's right, hand! Comsognathus mostly feasted on insects and small lizards, smaller than Comsognathus, of course. It's teeth were the size of your fingernail.

Troodon

 The Troodon was discovered October 1855 by Ferdinand V. Hayden. Troodon is one of, and possibly THE smartest dinosaur of all time. But it's body was very small. But that doesn't change how amazing this dinosaur is. It lived about 76 million years ago, in the Cretaaceous Period. It was actually thought to be a fossilized lizard until 1877 { you will see 1877 a lot because that was when two paleontologists challenged to see who could name more dinosaurs, I call it, Dino Year }. Troodon { like almost every other Dromeosaur on the planet! } probably had feathers on it's body.

Pachyrhinosaurus

 Okay, if you want to know everything you need to know about this dinosaur, just get the movie, Walking With Dinosaurs. I'm kidding please don't! Have you stopped? Okay. The Packyrhinosaurus was discovered in Alberta, Canada, by Charles M. Sternberg in 1946. It has also been known to be found in Alaska. Packyrhinosaurus mans "Thick-Nosed Lizard". It was an Hebivore, and a Ceratopsian that lived in the Cretaceous Period. Many partial skulls have been found of this dinosaur, over a dozen.

Spinosaurus

 The Spinosaurus was discovered in Egypt in the year of 1912, and was described by a German Paleontologist in 1915. The Spinosaurus { like the Suchomimus } could go fishing with it's long snout. It is thought that it would have been one f the greatest rivals of Tyrannosaurus Rex. It actually lived before the Tyrannosaurus Rex about 112 million to 93.5 million years ago. It's diet mainly remained on fish and pork, I mean small reptiles. Spinosaurus means "Spine Lizard" because of the large sail on it's back.

Megalodon

 { I just want to point out straight away that Megalodon did not live at the time of dinosaurs, but I did it anyway cause I treat it like it did } The Megalodon is the biggest shark to ever live! Apparently, it could reach 69 feet long!, snout to tail tip! Megalodon means "Big Tooth". Did you know, that once, a kid was digging on a beach under rocks, and found a Megalodon Tooth! If the Megalodon were still alive today, Humanity would be extinct! Megalodon went extinct 1 million years before humans, 2.6 million years ago. Their have been many "claimed" Megalodon sightings.

Dilophosaurus

 The Dilophosaurus was discovered 1940 in Arizona where three skelotons were found, only two were very well preserved. The Dilophosaurus is in Myth and some Movies known to be able to spit poison from it's mouth, but their is no scientific evidence that it  is true! It lived in the Jurassic Period about 193 million years ago. It was a Theropod that lived in North America.

Archelon

 The Archelon was discovered 1895 by Dr. G.R.Wieland in South Dakota. it lived 75 million to 65 million years ago. It is an extinct species of sea turtle, that lived at the same time as dinosaurs.

Ceratosaurus

 The Ceratosaurus was discovered 1884 by Othneil Charles Marsh. in Colorado. It lived 156 million years ago in the Jurassic Period. It was a carnivorous Theropod. It's biggest rival is Allosaurus."Nah! This is my territory!" they roared at each other for a couple million years I guess. Fun Fact, when Marsh found the skeleton, he thought that the dinosaur was gonna be an excellent swimmer. But it doesn't have a long snout to go fishing Brainypants!

Archaeopteryx

 The Archaeopteryx was discovered 1980 in Germany. Now, the Archaeopteryx could not fly, but glided from tree to tree, snatching insects as it did so. The name Archaeopteryx means "Old Wing". It has been referred to as the oldest known bird. But it's actually not. Yes, I'm sure I mentioned this before, but, birds are dinosaurs! Okay!? The first skeleton of Archaeopteryx was a headless bird!

Plateosaurus

 The Plateosaurus was discovered 1834 Johann Friedrich Engelhardt. It was actually the fifth dinosaur to be named! It was a Prosauropod. Not a Sauropod.  Sauropods only walk on four legs. Prosauropods walk on four and two legs, but still have long necks, otherwise Prosauropods would just be Hadrosaurs. It lived about 214 million to 204 million years ago, in the Triassic Period. By the time 2011 came around, two species were discovered. Plateosaurus Engelhardti. And Plateosaurus Gracilis. It lived in Northern parts of Europe.

Abelisaurus

 The Abelisaurus was discovered 1985. It's name means "Abel's Lizard", named after it's discoverer, Robert Abel. It lived in the late Cretaceous Period in Argentina, South America. It is only known by a single incomplete skull.

Gastonia

 The Gastonia was discovered 1989 in Utah. It was named 1998  by James Kirkland. He actually named it after it's discoverer Robert Gaston. It lived 130 million to 125 million years ago in the Cretaceous Period. It was an herbivorous species of Ankylosaur.

Yangchuanosaurus

 The Yangchuanosaurus is a carnivorous Theropod from the Mid. Jurassic Period. One of it's closest relatives is the Allosaurus. It was actually discovered by a construction worker working on a dam in China!

Chasmosaurus

 The Chasmosaurus was discovered 1898 by Lawrence Morris Lambe, in Alberta, Canada. It is an average sized Ceratopsian. It's name means "Opened Frill", referring to the holes in it's skull.

Parasaurolophus

 The Parasaurolophus was discovered 1922 by William Parks. Scientists believe that they have found partial fossilized blood veins in the crest. So, it might have been able to make sounds with it's crest like hoots and groans. The Parasaurolophus is a Hadrosaur like  Iguanodon. Their are three main species of Parasaurolophus, Parasaurolophus Walkeri, Parasaurolophus Tubicen, and Parasaurolophus Cyrtocristatus. It lived in North America and Asia in the Cretaceous Period about 76.5 million to 73 million years ago.
