Brachiosaurus

The Brachiosaurus was discovered in western Colorado in the year 1900. Brachiosaurus is a genus of sauropod dinosaur, or long-necked dinosaurs. It, like all sauropods is an herbivore. Did you know that there are more herbivore dinosaurs discovered than carnivore dinosaurs. I think it's pretty cool. The Brachiosaurus lived in the Jurassic Period, so it wouldn't have ever met up with the Tyrannosaurus Rex. Since it lived in the Cretaceous Period. Back to the Brachiosaurus. The name Brachiosaurus means "Deep Chest', since it had a large belly. It had a large belly so it had room for Gastroliths. Gastroliths are rocks, that the Brachiosaurus swallows to grind up it's food in it's belly since it could not chew up it's food. But it was not teethless. It had teeth so it could tear of branches from their tree trunks. Did you know the Brachiosaurus had larger front legs thhan back legs? The most well known species of Brachiosaurus is Brachiosaurus Altithorax. It's living time in the Jurassic Period was about 154 million to 153 million years, ago.

  1. I didn’t know dinosaurs ate rocks to help them digest food. What a fun fact!
